Jacek Palkiewicz Ph. D., an Italian-Polish reporter and explorer, is a fellow of the prestigious Royal Geographical Society in London. He has explored all geographical zones and difficult to reach small corners of our planet, searching and documenting the last primitive ethnic minorities. He frequently travels in the style of a nineteenth century discoverer. One of the first challenges he undertook was in 1975, crossing the Atlantic alone in a lifeboat.  Jacek is passionate about the art of survival, constantly in search of the  ultimate limits of extreme conditions of nature. Over the years he has been a consultant to the Russian Cosmonaut Training Centre and special forces in extreme conditions in various climatic zones. In 1996 he made a major geographical discovery by determining the actual source of the Amazon River, which established it as the longest river in the world. In 2011 the Peruvian government placed a monument with a commemorative plate on the source.
He’s author of more than 30 books and writes for magazines.
