Do you have what it takes to be the Shanghai video correspondent for one of the world’s leading news agencies? AFP is seeking a dynamic, self-starting one-man/woman-band video journalist.

As an experienced shooter, editor and reporter, you will cover the top news stories primarily in and across southern and eastern China, produce original features, coordinate a network of freelancers and help build up partnerships with local TV stations and other media.

You are a gifted cameraperson and a great journalist with a flair for visual storytelling. Completely self-reliant, you must also be a team player with top communication skills and an ability to meet deadlines. You will work alongside text and photo journalists in the Shanghai bureau, in close coordination with our China Video Journalist and News Editor in Beijing and regional headquarters in Hong Kong.

Above all, you relish the prospect of tackling the challenges faced by journalists working in one of the most fascinating countries of the world and covering some of the biggest global stories of our time.

Native-level English or French, an excellent level of Mandarin is essential. If you are a French speaker, fluent English is mandatory.
