Cancer In China: Trends And Cures

Cancer is a growing cause of death in China, and cancer awareness should be a concern for those of us living here. Exposure to pollution, changing diets and more sedentary lifestyles are contributing factors. The total number of cancer deaths in China will increase to 3 million annually by 2020 compared with 2.5 million today, according to Cancer Prevention and Control Research Office in Beijing. Already, cancer is the leading cause of death in Beijing, where it has surpassed cardiovascular disease, previously the top killer. Dr. Murphy will discuss current trends in cancer and cancer treatment in China.

About the speaker:
Dr. Martin J. Murphy Jr. is the founder and CEO of the non-profit CEO Roundtable on Cancer. He is also the founding chairman and CEO of AlphaMed Consulting, which provides strategic support for academic cancer centers and cancer development programs for businesses. He is the founding executive editor of the 18-year-old peer-reviewed journal, The Oncologist, and is active in numerous medical organizations.
