About the speaker:
Andy Xie is an independent economist, a guest columnist for Caixin Media and the South China Morning Post, and one of China’s most influential thought leaders. Andy began his career as an economist at the World Bank between 1990-95 where he worked on industry, trade, banking, and telecom related assistance projects in Indonesia and other Pacific Island countries. Between 1995-97 he was an associate director at Macquarie Bank in Hong Kong and Singapore. He joined Morgan Stanley in 1996 and worked there until 2006. Andy received his M.S. in Civil Engineering in 1987 and Ph.D in economics in 1990 at M.I.T.
