China’s stock market has been rising in international importance over the years and gaining more attention from global business media. Yet its investors are widely considered to suffer from accounting mischief among listed companies. Professor Xin Chen will share his in-depth research into the problem and suggest ways that investors, rather than getting hurt, can predict and profit from manipulation by market participants. Industries covered include electronics, heavy industry and steel.

About the speaker:  Xin Che has been an associate professor in department of accounting and finance at Shanghai Jiao Tong University since 2006. He received a Ph.D. in finance from the University of Minnesota in 2005 and then taught in People’s University of China and Aarhus University in Denmark. He was a visiting faculty fellow at MIT in 2007.
