Despite being a mainstay of international news in 2014, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea remains as difficult to understand as ever, with verifiable facts remaining elusive and on-the-ground experience difficult to come by. Simon Cockerell has been in and out of the country every month since 2002 leading tours for Koryo Tours, a Beijing-based company. Cockerell joins the FCC to talk about what’s new, what’s changed and how we can put the experience of this mysterious country into a political and social context. In all, he’s visited North Korea 140 times.
