Come to the SFCC’s first-ever Oxford-style debate. We will have a rousing and entertaining exchange on the state of technology and innovation in China. Two leading experts, Benjamin Qiu and Arre Shao, will do battle over this provocative motion: “China’s tech sector is a bubble.” You, the audience, will decide with your vote which of the valiant debaters carries the day. Vijay V. Vaitheeswaran, China Business Editor of the Economist, will be our immoderate moderator for the debate.

Benjamin Qiu is a venture financing and intellectual property attorney at Cooley LLP. Prior to joining Cooley, Mr. Qiu was Senior Counsel and Fund Director at Innovation Works, a PRC based VC. He is a Beijing native and holds a J.D. degree from Santa Clara University School of Law.
Arre Shao is the founder and CEO of an Internet fashion company Sugarlady.com in Shanghai. Prior to returning to Shanghai, Arre spent 11 years in the States getting her PhD in Computer Science from Princeton and working for Goldman Sachs. Arre’s ambition is to create a unique company that utilizing technology to change the way people think about fashion and shopping.
