Rowland Scherman
Friday, March 7th
12:00 p.m.
Speaker Bio: Rowland Scherman is best known for his Grammy-Award winning picture of Bob Dylan in 1968, but his vast portfolio spans assignments from Life, Time, Paris Match, Playboy and National Geographic, with subjects ranging from Martin Luther King Jr and the March on Washington, to Woodstock and John F Kennedy. In 1961 he served as the first photographer for the newly formed American Peace Corps. A new book called “Eye on the 60’s” featuring him and his work was published this week. Scherman is in town for the Shanghai International Literary Festival, and the Shanghai FCC is thrilled to host him for an informal talk about the evolution of photojournalism, featuring some of his iconic photos. Q&A to follow.
